Join me on a landscape Photo Tour of the Faroe Islands. An archipelago between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic, about halfway between Norway and Iceland, 320 kilometres (200 miles) north-northwest of Scotland. The islands are an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark.

Day 1 Torshavn (Capital) - Meet & Greet at Faroe Islands Airport for the first day of summer. 1st day of summer with some small events happening in town to get a cultural experience. Near the airport on the island of Vagar we will visit Mulafassor Falls and hopefully see some Puffin Birds as well. Also nearby we will photograph the Witches Finger.

Witches Finger - Vagar Island

We will also explore the culinary delights of the Faroe Islands salmon and lamb cuisine. The old town and the harbour are also worth a photo walk through the small city and surrounding areas where the only trees can be found as most of The Faroe Islands are tree-less.

Day 2 & 3 - On our second day we shall take a 2 hour car ferry ride to the island of Sudoroy. We shall spend 2 nights on the most remote island which has some amazing locations north and south as seen in the google map pins below.

Day 4 & 5 - Take a car ferry ride back to Torshavn and then drive to Klaksvik to spend two nights. We will explore surroundings areas such as the island of Kalsoy (Car Ferry) where the James Bond movie was filmed and the island’s of Kunoy, Budoroy and Vidoy.

Day 6 & 7 - Strumoy & Eysturoy Island 3 key locations will be Elduvik, Funnigur & Eidi via Gjogv. Depending on the amount of rainfall waterfalls can be found everywhere along our long and winding roads through the treeless mountains. Many small villages also provide picturesque shots of the small fishing boats. Other key areas worth a half day visit are Saksun and Black Beach.

Day 8 - Back to the capital city for our final night in Torshavn. This time we will explore the arts and cultural side through museums.

Day 9 -  Back to Vagar Island we look at doing a morning hike the 3 hour return hike slave cliff (lake above ocean) and then a 10 minute drive to the airport for our afternoon flight. If the weather is good on the first day of arrival we may do this walk then. As a plan B we can also re-shoot Mulafassor Falls, Witches Finger and Puffins Birds.

  • Up to 20 kg luggage and appropriate clothing

  • Moderate Level of Fitness is required with around 10,000-20,000 steps a day (2-4hrs) and uneven surfaces

Alfonso Calero This job is a mix of all my past jobs. I used to be a Japanese and Spanish speaking tour-guide, taught English in Tokyo and a Professional Photographer for the last 20 years.

Specialising in People and Places as a travel photographer has given me the experience and versatility to shoot in different genres such as Landscape, Street Portraits, Nature, Wildlife and Architecture. The focus on most of my tours is landscapes but in cities, street portraits, architecture and night photography.
