Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Launceston Airport morning arrival to Launceston City for a brief look before we head out to Sheffield for lunch followed by a an afternoon shoot at Dove Lake, Cradle Mountain National Park. If the evening is clear we may come back after dinner for some astrophotography.

Day 2 - After breakfast we will be doing some morning walks through the enchanted walk and pencil pines followed by an afternoon walk to Cradle Lake.

Day 3 - Strahan is a short two hour drive from Cradle Mountain National Park so that means we have a nice chance to stop along our route for some spontaneous shots. Lunch in Strahan followed by an afternoon shoot and finishing off with a spectacular sunset if we are lucky with the weather.

Day 4 - After breakfast we have a short drive to Corinna (2 hours). A car barge will take us across the Pieman River to our home for the next two nights. The Sweetwater cruise departs at 3pm. Sweetwater takes a maximum of 9 passengers on a 1 hour smooth water cruise viewing some of the glorious features of the Pieman River and having these features explained by one of our knowledgeable skippers.
You will be taken to the Savage River to view the shipwreck of the S.S. Croydon, and then onto Lovers Falls which is only accessible by small boat or kayak. This is one of the true gems of the area. After leaving Lovers Falls it’s back to Corinna. Costs $30.00 /per person

Day 5 - Pieman River Cruise for an extra fee ($90) we will cruise for 4 hours up the river to the ocean (lunch included). Along the river we will see a plethora of tree species in the heritage listed rainforest of the Tarkine. The Arcadia II departs Corinna at 10am cruising downstream on the Pieman River towards Pieman Head. Arriving at Pieman Head at 11.30am and departing at 1.00pm for return to Corinna at 2.30pm. This still gives us more time for an afternoon of Mushroom Hunting through the various rainforest walks will reveal an abundance of Funghi in the macro world. Macro lenses would be useful to have plus waterproof pants to keep you dry and a tripod that folds to the ground will make it easier to capture images like these. Even your mobile phone will come in handy to use as a back up.

Day 6 - On our final day we have a long 3.5 hour drive back to Launceston. Along the way will stop to photograph our last waterfall and lunch in the town of Penguin for some fabulous fish & chips. After lunch it will be a short drive to Launceston if you wish to stay the night or straight to the airport if you are flying back home.
